Clarence E. Garver Obituary, Death – A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on the morning of October 8, 2024, on Highway 83, about one mile north of Elkton, Missouri. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the crash took place at approximately 9:01 a.m. and involved 65-year-old Clarence E. Garver from Flemington, Missouri, who was riding a 1999 Honda Shadow motorcycle.

Garver was traveling northbound when his motorcycle collided with a deer that had entered the roadway. The impact caused Garver to lose control, and his motorcycle veered off the right side of the road. Despite wearing a helmet, Garver was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:44 a.m. by Dr. Marcelo Assmann.

The motorcycle sustained moderate damage as a result of the collision and was removed from the scene by A&J Towing.

Missouri State Highway Patrol officers, including Master Sergeant S.W. Long and Trooper A.R. Dill, responded to the accident. This fatality marks the 85th in Troop D’s jurisdiction for the year 2024.

The crash highlights the dangers that wildlife can pose to motorists, particularly on rural highways where deer and other animals frequently cross roadways, creating sudden hazards. The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to emphasize the importance of cautious driving in areas where wildlife is prevalent.
