Christopher Nauert Obituary, Death- A 61-year-old man was confirmed on Thursday as the individual who lost his life in a tragic accident on the Gene Snyder Freeway that occurred on October 12.
The incident took place at approximately 4:20 a.m. According to Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police, a man was traveling north on Interstate 265 when his vehicle was struck from behind by a car that was speeding. Following the impact, the man’s vehicle veered off the road and rolled over.
The driver of the first vehicle, identified as Christopher Nauert, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The second vehicle, driven by 21-year-old Arnold Quijada-Vega, remained at the location after the collision. Ellis noted that responding officers assessed the situation and found that Quijada-Vega appeared to be impaired. As a result, he was taken into custody for further investigation.
Quijada-Vega was subsequently transported to UofL Hospital, where he was treated for injuries that were reported as non-life-threatening.
He now faces several charges, including vehicular homicide while under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, and tampering with physical evidence. A court appearance is scheduled for him on Monday.
The Louisville Metro Police Department’s Traffic Unit is currently conducting the investigation into the crash.
