Chad Pegg Obituary, Death – State authorities are conducting an investigation into a tragic crash that occurred in Adair County, resulting in a pedestrian’s death.
The incident took place around 7:30 p.m. on Friday when troopers from Kentucky State Police Post 15 responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision on Greensburg Road. Preliminary findings indicate that a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck, driven by 36-year-old Samuel Derossett of Columbia, was parked in the northbound lane of Greensburg Road, facing south. Near the front of this pickup stood 54-year-old Chad Pegg from Greensburg.
As the situation unfolded, 74-year-old Norma Shirley, also from Columbia, was traveling northbound on Greensburg Road when she collided with both the Chevrolet pickup and Pegg. Tragically, Pegg was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County Coroner’s Office. In the aftermath of the collision, Derossett was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital, while Shirley was taken to the University of Louisville Hospital, both suffering from serious injuries.
The scene of the accident saw assistance from various local agencies, including the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Adair County Fire and EMS, and the Adair County Rescue Squad.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing, with Senior Trooper Dean Lunz leading the inquiry.
