Cameron Ford Obituary, Death – The Omaha police have confirmed the identities of both the victim and the officer involved in a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday morning. An investigation directed law enforcement and federal agents to Cameron Ford, a 37-year-old resident of Omaha.
A search warrant was executed at a property located near the intersection of 78th and Redick streets, targeting Ford for narcotics and weapons offenses. Given Ford’s extensive criminal background, the Omaha police SWAT team was requested to provide assistance, according to authorities.
The Omaha police reported that Officer Adam Vail, identified as the officer involved, “discharged a firearm” during the incident, and officers administered CPR at the scene.
Ford was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Omaha Police Department noted that Vail has been a member of the SWAT team since March 2023 and has participated in the execution of “122 high-risk warrants” during his tenure.
In accordance with departmental policy, he has been placed on administrative leave and will undergo an interview at a later date.
The case will be submitted to a grand jury, as mandated by policy, in instances where an individual dies while in custody or during law enforcement apprehension.
