Bry’Shun Jordon Obituary, Death – Authorities have yet to make any arrests following a fatal shooting at a party in Elberton on Saturday night, which resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy and injuries to seven others.
The incident took place around 11:50 p.m. at the 7 Grand nightclub located on Evergreen Drive, on the eastern edge of the city, as reported by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
The victim, Bry’Shun Jordon, was a student at Hart Academy in Hartwell, according to the Hart County School System.
Among the seven injured, most were teenagers, along with one adult, as stated by the sheriff’s office and the GBI. The shooting occurred during what was described as a homecoming afterparty.
A video obtained by 11 Alive News from someone present at the scene captured the sound of over 20 gunshots during the incident.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Elberton Mayor Daniel Graves addressed the community via a Facebook post, expressing deep sorrow over the events. He stated, “Our community’s heart is broken over the events of this past Saturday evening. It is proof of what we already knew, but don’t want to have to accept. Our community is not immune from the terrible and tragic events of our times.”
Grayson Williams, a spokesperson for the Hart County Charter School, also released a statement, conveying the sadness surrounding Bry’Shun Jordon’s passing. “We are deeply saddened to share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Bry’Shun Jordan, a 15-year-old Hart Academy Student,” the statement noted.
The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office has sought the assistance of the GBI in the ongoing investigation into the shooting.
