Bradly Chapman, Sylvia Chapman Obituary, Death – The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office reported on Monday that two individuals lost their lives in a fire that occurred at a residence in the Town of Spring Prairie on Saturday. Emergency responders, including deputies and firefighters, were dispatched to the scene at approximately 5:25 p.m. on Highway 11, just east of Elkhorn, after receiving reports of a house fire.

Upon arrival, crews encountered flames engulfing the second floor of the home. Witnesses expressed uncertainty about whether anyone was still inside. In an effort to ensure safety, deputies conducted a search of the first floor while noting that flames were billowing from the top of the stairs leading to the second floor.

Firefighters from the Lyons Fire Department conducted a thorough search of the upstairs apartment and discovered two individuals trapped inside the burning building. Despite their rescue efforts, both individuals ultimately succumbed to their injuries.

The Walworth County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the deceased as 58-year-old Bradly Chapman and 83-year-old Sylvia Chapman. A man who claimed to be the property owner informed WMTV, a partner of Fox6 News, that the two victims were a mother and son.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office mentioned that additional assistance was requested from nearby agencies to combat the fire. Firefighters worked diligently to bring the blaze under control, which was achieved shortly after 8:20 p.m. The last of the emergency units departed the scene around 1 a.m. the following day.

One firefighter sustained injuries during the operation but was treated at the scene and did not require further medical attention.

As of now, the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office has not released any information regarding the possible cause of the fire or the cause of death for the two victims. Investigations are ongoing, with both the sheriff’s office and the medical examiner’s office actively looking into the incident.
