Andrew L. Shih Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the 85-year-old Adelanto man who died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 138 near Phelan over the weekend. Andrew L. Shih was involved in the collision, which occurred around 9:10 p.m. on Friday at Sayle Road, just south of Phelan, according to officials from the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office and the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Shih was driving a 2006 Ford pickup truck westbound on Sayle Road when the accident occurred. The truck was traveling at an unknown speed. The other vehicle involved was a 2022 Nissan driven by a 60-year-old man from Moreno Valley, who was traveling east on Highway 138 at approximately 55 mph.
According to a CHP statement, Shih’s Ford truck made an unsafe left turn, crossing into oncoming traffic and directly in front of the Nissan. The collision resulted in the front right of the Ford truck crashing into the front of the Nissan, causing the Ford to overturn.
Shih was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. The Nissan driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. No arrests have been made, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
