Amir Jordan Obituary, Death – The coroner’s office has named the 19-year-old who was struck and killed by a Cincinnati police cruiser on Thursday. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Este Avenue, close to Chickering Avenue, in the Spring Grove Village neighborhood.
Cincinnati Police Chief Terri Theetge reported that the officer involved was responding to a call about gunshots and was driving near a Metro bus at the time. The cruiser had its lights and sirens activated as it headed to the emergency scene.
According to police, the victim was crossing the street in a location without a crosswalk when he was hit by the police vehicle. The man was transported to UC Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. The coroner’s office has identified the victim as Amir Jordan, a 19-year-old.
The Cincinnati Police Department is conducting an investigation into the accident. On Thursday evening, the Fraternal Order of Police issued a statement regarding the incident. FOP president Ken Kober expressed the organization’s condolences, stating, “The Cincinnati FOP and its members are praying for the young man who was hit and for the officer involved.”
