Alfredo Majin, Bryan Mojica Obituary, Death News – Authorities have identified two men who tragically lost their lives following a police chase that ended in a crash early Sunday morning. The driver of the vehicle was Alfredo Mojica Majin, a 26-year-old resident of Holland, while the passenger was his 21-year-old brother, Bryan Mojica.
The incident began around 2:25 a.m. when the Holland Department of Public Safety (HDPS) received reports of a disturbance involving multiple individuals fighting at the Speedway gas station located at 800 Washington Avenue. As an officer arrived at the scene and moved towards the gas station, he noticed a silver vehicle abruptly leaving the parking lot and heading west on 33rd Street.
Police reported that the vehicle was speeding and had its headlights turned off. Shortly after the car left, the officer heard several gunshots, which were believed to have originated from the vehicle itself. Concerned for public safety, the officer returned to his patrol car in an attempt to pursue the fleeing vehicle.
According to the HDPS, the suspect’s vehicle made a turn onto Pioneer Avenue and then continued westbound onto 32nd Street. The officer followed but noted that the suspect vehicle was still speeding without its headlights on. The chase continued as the vehicle proceeded west, eventually losing control as it approached the curve where 32nd Street transitions into South Shore Drive.
In a tragic turn of events, the suspect vehicle veered off the road to the left and collided with a tree, resulting in the deaths of the two brothers.
Meanwhile, other officers responded to the scene on 33rd Street after receiving reports of gunshots. Although neighbors reported hearing the sounds of gunfire, police found no victims in the immediate area. Upon further investigation, authorities discovered that the gunshots had originated from a pistol located inside the suspect vehicle. As of now, it remains unclear who or what the brothers were shooting at during the incident.
The investigation into the crash has been handed over to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, with additional assistance from Holland detectives. The authorities are seeking to piece together the events leading up to the crash and the gunfire.
