Adrian Lopez Obituary, Death – Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting at an apartment complex on South Pleasant Valley Road in southeast Austin, which occurred on Monday afternoon. The Austin Police Department (APD) reported that officers were dispatched to the Waterloo Flats complex following a shooting call shortly after 2 p.m. The call was made by an employee of the complex, who reported that someone had approached and started attacking him.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man in his 40s, identified as 39-year-old Adrian Lopez, who had suffered a gunshot wound. Despite attempts to save his life, Lopez was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators determined through scene analysis and witness interviews that Lopez had randomly begun assaulting the complex employee, threatening him with pepper spray. In response, the employee shot Lopez. At this time, it is unclear whether Lopez and the employee were acquainted, but the APD has stated that no charges are currently being filed. The incident is still under investigation.
