Abbigail Callaham Obituary, Death – Tragedy struck in South Carolina as two high school students lost their lives in a crash while en route to pick up their child from daycare. The students, who were both from Belton-Honea Path High School, had just left the school campus on Tuesday morning when the accident occurred.

According to the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, the incident began when a large bird suddenly flew in front of their vehicle on Clamp Drive. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the driver, trying to avoid the bird, overcorrected and veered off the road, ultimately colliding with a tree.

The passenger in the vehicle, identified as 17-year-old Abbigail “Grace” Callaham, was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Thomas Kennedy, who is a senior at the same high school, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

At the time of the accident, the two were on their way to pick up their 4-month-old child from daycare. The coroner’s office confirmed that the couple was a junior and a senior at Belton-Honea Path High, highlighting their youth and the profound loss to their families and community.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, as the community comes to terms with the tragic event.
