Michael Carbone Obituary, Death – A 77-year-old man from Pompton Plains, Passaic County, has been identified as the victim killed by a train on October 28 in Morris County. Michael Carbone was struck by Montclair-Boonton Line train 1074 at around 9:30 a.m., according to NJ Transit officials.

The incident occurred at the Ryerson Road crossing in Lincoln Park. Officials confirmed that the crossing gates were functioning properly and in the down position at the time of the crash. Despite the active gates, Carbone drove around them, positioning his vehicle directly in the path of the approaching train.

Miraculously, none of the 40 passengers or crew members aboard the train sustained any injuries. However, Carbone was pronounced dead at the scene. NJ Transit is continuing to investigate the incident.
