Dalton J. McCarty Obituary, Death – In Jackson County, a young Murphysboro man lost his life in a tragic rollover crash that occurred in the early hours of Monday morning. The accident took place just before 2:30 a.m. on Route 3, near Big Lake Road. According to preliminary findings from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Dalton J. McCarty, aged 20, was heading south when his car veered off the left side of the road and overturned.
McCarty, who was reportedly the only occupant in the vehicle, was ejected during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the accident, authorities temporarily closed Route 3 for approximately two and a half hours to manage the scene and conduct an initial investigation. Assisting at the scene were teams from the Jackson County Ambulance Service and the Ava Fire Department.
The sheriff’s office has launched an in-depth investigation to understand the exact cause of the crash. Their Traffic Crash Reconstruction team is currently handling this ongoing investigation to determine the events leading up to the accident.
