Maria Ganchozo Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified a pregnant woman who tragically lost her life in a crash involving a suspected intoxicated driver over the weekend on Lake Hefner Parkway in Oklahoma City. According to the incident report, police were called to the scene of the accident near Britton Road shortly before 12:15 a.m. on Saturday. They stated that the driver had entered Lake Hefner Parkway traveling southbound in the northbound lanes from Hefner Road, where he collided head-on with the victim’s vehicle.
Rescue crews had to extricate both the woman and the suspect from their vehicles. Unfortunately, the woman died shortly after being transported to OU Health. The report also indicated that her unborn child did not survive the crash.
The Oklahoma City Police Department identified the victim as 25-year-old Maria Ganchozo. The driver involved in the accident displayed signs of intoxication, prompting police to request a warrant for a blood test. Additionally, the incident report noted that the suspect’s child was in the back seat of his vehicle at the time of the crash and was taken to OU Children’s Hospital with minor injuries.
As of now, KOCO 5 has not disclosed the suspect’s name, as formal charges have yet to be filed in the case.
