Shane Crotts Obituary, Death – A man has died after being physically assaulted during a gathering in Davie County. The incident took place late Saturday night, prompting a response from deputies with the Davie County Sheriff’s Office. They were alerted to a disturbance on NC Highway 801 South in Advance.
Upon arrival, deputies were directed to an outbuilding where attendees were performing CPR on the victim, identified as Shane Crotts, a 50-year-old man. According to reports, a disturbance had erupted at the party, which culminated in Crotts being assaulted by another individual.
Despite the efforts of party-goers to administer life-saving measures and the assistance from deputies, Crotts was pronounced dead at the scene. Following the incident, deputies launched an investigation and discovered that the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Joel Johnson, had fled the area.
Authorities were able to locate Johnson later in the Todd Road area and took him into custody. He has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held at the Davie County Detention Center without bond.
