Deion-Dre Benjamin Obituary, Death – The victim of the Friday night shooting near St. Martinville High School, which occurred just before the homecoming football game, has been identified as 24-year-old Deion-Dre Benjamin from St. Martinville, according to his family.
St. Martinville police reported that Zackyric Gardner, 22, also of St. Martinville, was apprehended in Texas and is facing a second-degree murder charge. Police Chief Ricky Martin noted that Gardner was a passenger in a vehicle with two others at the time of his arrest.
The investigation remains active, with authorities expecting additional arrests related to the case.
