Justin Lee Romaine Obituary, Death – A man injured in an October 9 hit-and-run accident has died, while the investigation and search for the suspect continue. On the evening of October 9, around 7:40 p.m., the Des Moines Police Department responded to reports of pedestrians hit by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found two men, ages 42 and 45, lying unconscious in the roadway, along with a third person who had a minor foot injury. The two unconscious men were transported to the hospital; one was in critical condition, and the other was in serious condition.
The 42-year-old, Justin Lee Romaine, succumbed to his injuries on October 25. The vehicle involved in the incident, a gray 2007 Honda Odyssey, was traced to its owner, 32-year-old Renato Virves, though police have been unable to locate him. Romaine’s death marks the 14th traffic-related fatality in Des Moines for 2024.
