Tracy A. Mortenson Obituary, Death – The woman who lost her life in a two-vehicle accident near Beresford on Saturday morning has been named. The South Dakota Department of Public Safety reported that the incident occurred about 12 miles west of Beresford when an SUV and a pickup truck collided.
According to the department, the SUV was heading east on South Dakota Highway 46, while a pickup truck was traveling north on South Dakota Highway 19. The pickup failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 46, resulting in the two vehicles crashing into each other. Following the collision, both vehicles ended up in the northeast ditch adjacent to the road.
Tracy A. Mortenson, a 49-year-old resident of Laurel, Nebraska, was the driver of the SUV. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, who has not been named, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
Both individuals involved in the accident were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.
