Edward Webb Jr Obituary, Death – In a tragic incident in Florida, a stolen Jeep speeding through a residential neighborhood struck and killed a 70-year-old man who was walking near his home. The victim has been identified as Edward Webb Jr., and authorities are currently searching for the driver of the vehicle, who remains unidentified, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.
The accident occurred around 9:05 p.m. on Monday, October 21, at the intersection of 12th Street South and Ninth Avenue South. According to the police report, the Jeep Grand Cherokee was seen traveling at a high rate of speed as it approached the intersection, where it made a sharp westbound turn onto Ninth Avenue South.
At the time, Webb was crossing Ninth Avenue South, close to his residence, when he was struck by the speeding vehicle. Following the collision, Webb was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Reports indicate that Webb lived at one corner of the intersection, making this incident even more tragic, as he was mere feet away from home when the accident occurred. After hitting Webb, the Jeep did not stop; instead, it continued traveling for about two blocks before three young men exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
Authorities have confirmed that the Jeep involved in the crash had been reported stolen earlier that same day. The police are urging the public to come forward with any information that might assist in identifying the individuals who fled from the stolen vehicle. Those with information are encouraged to contact the St. Petersburg Police Department at (727) 893-7780.
This unfortunate event has raised serious concerns about public safety, particularly regarding reckless driving in residential areas and the alarming issue of vehicle thefts. Community members are left in shock, mourning the loss of Webb and hoping for swift justice as the investigation unfolds.
