Dennis Bannon Obituary, Death – Police have identified the man who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 36 Friday night as 60-year-old Dennis Bannon, a resident of the Leonardo section of Middletown Township. According to Middletown police, Bannon was found lying in the roadway after being hit and was transported to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:07 p.m. on the northbound side of Route 36, just north of the entrance to the Navy Operational Support Center Earle. Preliminary investigations suggest that Bannon had been walking on the roadway before the collision.

The driver involved in the crash, whose name has not been made public, cooperated fully with police during the investigation. Middletown Deputy Police Chief Paul Bailey confirmed that no further details have been released regarding the driver or any charges.
