Levi Brown Obituary, Death – A tragic traffic accident late Wednesday night claimed the lives of two individuals, including a man from Chattooga County. The Georgia State Patrol Public Information Office provided details of the crash, which occurred on October 16, 2024, at around 11:23 PM on Highway 27, just south of Old Lee School Road.
The incident was preceded by a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) alert issued by Walker 911 at 11:08 PM, warning of a wrong-way driver traveling north in the southbound lanes of Highway 27. Just five minutes after the alert, emergency services were notified of a serious crash involving a vehicle engulfed in flames.
Upon arriving at the scene, troopers encountered a devastating collision. Their investigation determined that a Chevrolet truck, driving north in the southbound lanes, had collided head-on with a Toyota Corolla that was traveling in the correct direction, heading south. The impact of the crash caused the Chevrolet to spin counterclockwise and partially enter the median before catching fire. The Toyota Corolla also spun counterclockwise, coming to a stop facing north in the southbound lanes, with its driver trapped inside the vehicle.
Despite the swift arrival of emergency responders, both drivers were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. One of the victims was identified as 30-year-old Levi Brown from Menlo, a small town in Chattooga County. The identity of the second victim, the driver of the Chevrolet truck, was not immediately confirmed. His body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab for identification.
The Georgia State Patrol Post in LaFayette is continuing its investigation into the cause of the crash. More information will be made available as the investigation progresses.
