Venancio Motta Santos Obituary, Death – A tragic accident on October 17 resulted in the death of a Kentucky man working along West Virginia State Route 214 in Yawkey, Lincoln County. According to authorities, Trooper R. S. Clagg responded to the scene after receiving reports of a fatal crash.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, 44-year-old Venancio Motta Santos from Shelbyville, Kentucky, was working as a flagger for a tree company at the time of the incident. He was positioned at the edge of the right side of the roadway when the accident occurred.
The driver involved in the collision, identified as 47-year-old Jimmy Wilburn from Sumerco, West Virginia, was driving a black Chevrolet Silverado. Reports indicate that Wilburn failed to stop in time and struck Motta Santos while he was working.
Emergency responders quickly transported Motta Santos to CAMC General Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the facility.
