Glendale police reported that the victims were Monet Newton, 24, and Chase Cooper, 22.

The incident occurred on Tuesday around 12:15 p.m. when police were called to an apartment complex located at the intersection of 79th Avenue and Union Hills Road, just north of the Arrowhead Towne Center. Upon entering the apartment, officers discovered the bodies of Newton and Cooper. Investigators believe that Cooper shot Newton before taking his own life.

Monet Newton was scheduled to graduate from her Master’s program this week, and her family had traveled to Glendale to celebrate this significant milestone with her. Her family had expected her to pick them up from the airport, but when she failed to arrive, they became increasingly worried.

Concerned for her well-being, family and friends decided to check on Monet at her apartment. Upon entering, they found the two deceased individuals inside and promptly called 911 to report the situation.
