Authorities later determined that Mia died from multiple injuries, leading them to classify her death as a homicide. The conflict between Mia and her father reportedly centered around her desire to attend prom. Initially, Almaru had granted her permission, but he later rescinded it, citing a lack of trust, particularly after Mia had crashed his car.
