Scotty Bass, Sebastian Bass Obituary, Death – The Kitsap County Medical Examiner’s Office identified two teenage victims, Scotty Bass, 17, and Sebastian Bass, 16, who were killed in an apparent homicide on Scandia Road. The two brothers were discovered in their home by Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday after a 911 call from Seth R. South. The medical examiner’s autopsy revealed that both died from sharp force injuries, with their throats cut, according to the probable cause statement.
South, arrested in Pierce County on Wednesday evening, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder. He made his first court appearance on Thursday in Kitsap County Superior Court and is currently being held without bail, as ordered by Judge Bill Houser. South will undergo a mental health evaluation at Western State Hospital, with a competency hearing scheduled for Friday, October 25.
An initial assault charge, for South striking a Kitsap County Sheriff’s detective after his arrest, was later dropped.
The probable cause statement indicated that South called 911 around 3 p.m. on October 9, claiming one of the victims had been injured with a knife, referring to one as his half-brother. South shared the same home address on Scandia Road as the victims. When deputies arrived, they found one victim in the kitchen on the first floor and the other at the top of a staircase on the second floor. South was apprehended hours later in Bonney Lake by Pierce County deputies.
