Jeffrey Kocanyar, Adam Lubic Obituary, Death – The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has identified the victims of the home explosion that occurred in Ellsworth over the weekend. The deceased include:
– Jeffrey Kocanyar, age 69
– Joann Kocanyar, age 67
– Julie Lubic, age 33
– Adam Lubic, age 33
The autopsies for the victims were conducted by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office. In addition to the human casualties, several pets also perished in the explosion.
Emergency dispatch and fire officials began receiving reports of the explosion around 7:15 a.m. on Saturday from the 8000 block of Huxley Road in Ellsworth Township.
The explosion was powerful enough to scatter debris approximately half a mile from the site. It also caused significant damage to neighboring homes, with some structures shifting off their foundations. Windows were shattered, ceilings were cracked, and various items were displaced from shelves and cabinets due to the force of the blast.
Authorities from the State Fire Marshal’s Office, along with the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office, are continuing to investigate the incident.
