Michael Petrovich Obituary, Death – Authorities have identified the driver killed in a crash that occurred in the Carolina Forest area on Monday morning. The incident happened just after 10:30 a.m. on River Oaks Drive near World Tour Boulevard.

According to Cpl. Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash involved three vehicles. A 2015 Ford sedan traveling north collided with a 2012 Honda sedan that was heading south. The impact also caused the Ford to strike a 2022 Volkswagen SUV, which was also going south.

The driver of the Ford, 69-year-old Michael Petrovich of Myrtle Beach, died as a result of the collision, Pye confirmed. Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard later identified Petrovich as the deceased.

The driver of the Volkswagen was injured, though specific details about their condition were not available as of Tuesday morning. The extent of the injuries and the current status of that individual remain unclear.

Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the scene, where they performed extrication operations to free individuals trapped in the wreckage. Officers from the Horry County Police Department were also present at the scene.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the cause and any contributing factors.
