Gregory Schroeder Obituary, Death – Officials have identified the Boise man who was fatally stabbed over the weekend. The incident occurred on Friday at approximately 3:25 p.m. when police were called to a residence located in the 5000 block of North Mitchell Street in Northwest Boise, according to a news release from the Boise Police Department.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered a victim who was in critical condition. First responders swiftly transported the individual to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The Ada County Coroner’s Office later identified him as Gregory Schroeder, a 39-year-old resident of Boise. The coroner confirmed that Schroeder was pronounced dead at 4:24 p.m. that same day in the emergency department.
The coroner’s report stated that the cause of death was multiple sharp force injuries, with the manner of death classified as homicide. Following the discovery of Schroeder’s body, Boise police quickly apprehended 35-year-old Scott Stevens, who was reportedly living with Schroeder at the time of the incident.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Stevens and Schroeder were familiar with each other, sharing a home with additional adults. Evidence collected at the scene revealed that two other individuals living in the house attempted to intervene during the altercation but were reportedly threatened by Stevens while he wielded a weapon.
According to police reports, the attack seemed to be unprovoked. Officers located the weapon used in the stabbing at the scene. Consequently, Stevens has been charged with first-degree murder and two counts of felony aggravated assault, as indicated by court records.
The Boise Police Department has not provided any further updates regarding the case.
