Kayla Elem Obituary, Death – A vehicle crash in Floyd County over the weekend resulted in one fatality and two injuries. According to the Kentucky State Police, the two-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, on State Highway 114 in Prestonsburg.
Investigators reported that a Honda Insight crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a Chevrolet Cobalt. Both drivers were transported to hospitals to receive treatment for their injuries. Tragically, a passenger in the Cobalt, identified as Kayla Elem, was also taken to a hospital but later succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the crash.
The Kentucky State Police have assigned an accident reconstructionist to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident further.
