Derek Wayman Obituary, Death – The Camden County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of a man who was shot and killed during a burglary incident that occurred last week. The shooting took place on October 2 at around 3 a.m. when a resident on North Highway 7 called 911 to report a burglary in progress.
The resident informed the dispatchers that they had shot one of the intruders, while another suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered that the burglary suspect who had been shot had died at the scene. He was identified as 44-year-old Derek Wayman, who authorities noted was known to frequent the areas of Sparta and Springfield.
Detectives from Camden County are currently collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to locate and identify Wayman’s accomplice involved in the burglary. The investigation is ongoing as officials work to piece together the events surrounding the incident.
