Mohammad Sahariar Obituary, Death – The man fatally shot at the Ramada by Wyndham Hotel on Friday has been identified as 28-year-old Mohammad Sahariar from Fairfield. The announcement was made by Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Fennelly on Saturday, who also confirmed that another victim remains hospitalized and that the investigation into the shooting is active.

Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Fairfield Police Chief Anthony Manna provided details about the incident, which occurred at the hotel located at 38 Two Bridges Road, also known as County Road 613, at approximately 12:27 p.m. on Friday. The police were dispatched following a 911 call that reported “unknown trouble” at the hotel.

Upon arrival, Fairfield Police discovered two men with apparent gunshot wounds. One man was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 p.m. The second victim was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment for his injuries.

The investigation is being handled by the Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force in collaboration with detectives from the Fairfield Police Department. Authorities are urging anyone who may have information related to the incident to reach out via the Prosecutor’s Tips line at 1-877-847-7432.
