Debbie Brink Obituary, Death – The mother of a Lawrence County deputy, 69-year-old Debbie Brink, tragically passed away after a two-car crash in Marionville on Saturday afternoon. The accident occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 60 and Lincoln Street, according to the Aurora Marionville Police Department (AMPD).
Details about the cause of the crash are still under investigation, but AMPD Chief Wes Coatney revealed that one vehicle crossed the center lane and collided head-on with the other car. Brink, one of the drivers involved, was airlifted to a hospital in Springfield, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Brink’s son, a Lawrence County deputy, was among the responders who arrived at the crash site to provide assistance. Chief Coatney expressed the emotional difficulty of the situation, saying, “Unimaginable. It’s our nightmare to end up on scene with loved ones, but a real possibility that happens sometimes.” He added that AMPD and surrounding agencies are offering their full support to the deputy and his family during this incredibly difficult time, acknowledging the tragedy as “unspeakable.”
The other driver involved in the crash was treated at the scene and is reported to be in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
