Chevoyia Rivers Obituary, Death – A man from Manchester was fatally shot on Florence Street Thursday afternoon, according to police reports. Hartford police Lieutenant Aaron Boisvert has identified the victim as 30-year-old Chevoyia Rivers.
Boisvert stated that officers responding to a shooting report on Florence Street discovered Rivers unresponsive. He was then taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The investigation into the shooting has been handed over to the Hartford Police Department’s Major Crimes and Crime Scene divisions, as per Boisvert’s announcement.
Earlier on Thursday, Hartford Fire District Chief Mario Oquendo Jr. noted that firefighters were dispatched to Florence Street at 1:12 p.m. following a report of a shooting victim. Upon arrival, the fire crew found a male who had sustained a gunshot wound, with police officers already performing CPR on him.
Chief Oquendo reported that fire personnel took over the CPR efforts and called for an ambulance, which subsequently transported the victim to the hospital. He also mentioned that the police secured the scene of the incident.
