Ahsun Madison Obituary, Death – Austin police have identified a 16-year-old boy, Ahsun Madison, as the victim of a homicide that occurred on Monday night in north Austin. In connection with the incident, another 16-year-old boy has been arrested.
Authorities responded to several 911 calls reporting gunfire in the 9100 block of Northgate Boulevard around 8:20 p.m. on Monday. Some callers indicated that someone had been shot in the vicinity, prompting a swift response from the police.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a victim exhibiting “obvious signs of trauma.” Emergency medical services, along with the Austin Fire Department, attempted life-saving measures; however, Madison was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:01 p.m.
On Wednesday, the Austin Police Department (APD) announced that they had identified the suspect in the case as a 16-year-old Hispanic male. He has been charged with first-degree murder, though his name has not been released due to his juvenile status.
According to police reports, the suspect shot Madison at an apartment complex before fleeing the scene. Investigators from the Austin Police Gang Detectives located the suspect and arrested him, after which he was booked into the Gardner Betts Juvenile Center on the murder charge.
The police noted that the suspect had been involved in several shootings in the area earlier this year. He was also linked to the fourth homicide of 2024, which occurred on January 8 in the 9300 block of Northgate Boulevard. Although he was present during that incident, he was not the shooter.

A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
This case is currently being investigated as the 48th homicide in Austin for 2024.
