Joseph Clementi Obituary, Death – A man lost his life early Monday morning when the van he was driving collided with a semitrailer in Sedgwick County, according to authorities. The incident occurred around 5:55 a.m. on K-96 highway near North 151st Street West, approximately five miles northwest of Wichita.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that a 2000 GMC G1500 van was heading west on K-96 when it veered off the road, entered the median, and subsequently struck the trailer of a 2024 Kenworth semitrailer that was stopped at a stop sign facing south.
The driver of the GMC van, identified as 34-year-old Joseph Bailey Clementi from Wichita, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Authorities noted that Clementi was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
The semitrailer was driven by 57-year-old Monica R. Dawes from Emporia, who sustained no injuries in the collision. The patrol reported that Dawes was wearing her seat belt during the incident.
Both drivers were alone in their respective vehicles at the time of the crash.
