Colten Naef Obituary, Death – The Utah Highway Patrol has released the identity of the man who tragically lost his life following a utility vehicle accident in Box Elder County on Monday, September 23. The victim has been named as 28-year-old Colten Naef, a resident of Tremonton. A family member shared on Facebook that Naef was regarded as a “fearless firefighter.”
At the time of the incident, Naef was operating a utility task vehicle (UTV) along a dirt road that intersects with SR-102, leading into a church parking lot. Concurrently, a Chevrolet truck towing a flatbed trailer was traveling west on SR-102. According to a press release from the Utah Department of Public Safety, Naef did not yield the right of way, which resulted in a collision with the right rear tire of the Chevrolet. This impact caused Naef to be ejected from his vehicle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the collision, the Chevrolet truck reportedly jackknifed and came to a stop, obstructing the roadway. Fortunately, both the driver and passenger of the truck escaped without injuries.
Funeral services for Colten Naef are scheduled to take place at Rudd Funeral Home, located at 111 North 100 East in Tremonton, on Saturday, September 28, at 2 p.m. There will be a period of visitation before the service, from 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
