Eric Mitchell Obituary, Death – A man from Georgia has lost his life after being ejected from a truck involved in a collision with a semi-trailer in northern Iowa. According to the Iowa State Patrol (ISP), the incident took place around 12:30 PM on Thursday, September 19, at the intersection of Kirkwood Avenue and 465th Street, located west of Stacyville. A 2024 Mack truck, operated by 43-year-old Senika Range from McDonough, Georgia, collided with a 2012 Peterbilt semi driven by 24-year-old Christo Van Der Linde of Stacyville.

The ISP reports that Range did not stop at the stop sign, entered the intersection, and was struck on the passenger side by Van Der Linde’s vehicle. The semi overturned, resulting in a spillage of corn, while a passenger in the Mack truck, 60-year-old Eric Mitchell from Atlanta, Georgia, was thrown from the vehicle.

Mitchell was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester but succumbed to his injuries. The crash report indicates that Mitchell was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Both Range and Van Der Linde were taken to Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage for medical attention.

Assistance at the scene was provided by the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, MercyOne AirMed, the Stacyville Fire Department, Mitchell County Ambulance, and St. Ansgar Fire and EMS.
