Mary Jones Obituary, Death – The victim of a fatal crash in Florida has been identified as Mary Jones, a dispatcher with the Sparta Police Department. Early Thursday morning, around 12:35 a.m., Jones was hit and killed by a vehicle while she was working to secure items on a trailer along Interstate 95 near Edgewood Avenue in Jacksonville.

The Florida state troopers reported that the driver responsible for the collision did not stop and fled the scene. Authorities are currently searching for the vehicle and driver, urging anyone with information to come forward.

The suspect’s vehicle is believed to be a black or dark gray Ford Explorer from model years 2016 to 2019. It is expected to have front passenger side damage, including a missing side mirror and a damaged right front bumper.

In a statement, the Sparta Police Department expressed their profound grief over Jones’ death, describing her as a dedicated and distinguished member of their team.
