Calloway was driving a Chevrolet Equinox, with Burgess as his passenger, when their vehicle was struck by a Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer. The truck was driven by David M. McDaniel, a 26-year-old from Madison, Alabama.
Senior Trooper Cody Farrar provided the information that both Calloway and Burgess died at the scene from the impact. The severity of the crash left no time for any emergency medical intervention.
