Volodymyr Pernerovsky Obituary, Death – A 70-year-old man who was struck and killed on Eastbound Highway 55 at South Shore Drive in Plymouth has been identified as Volodymyr Pernerovsky. The incident occurred on the evening of September 7 at approximately 8:20 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash involved a Subaru Forester that was traveling eastbound on Highway 55. At the time of the accident, the vehicle had a green light, allowing it to proceed through the intersection at South Shore Drive. However, Pernerovsky was crossing the highway against the traffic light and was not within the designated crosswalk when he was hit by the vehicle.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Subaru was following the traffic laws, as the green light allowed them to proceed through the intersection. Unfortunately, Pernerovsky’s decision to cross the highway outside of the crosswalk and against the traffic signal put him in the path of the oncoming vehicle, leading to the fatal crash.
The Minnesota State Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, but it has been determined that Pernerovsky was not in the crosswalk and had crossed against the light at the time of the collision. The driver of the Subaru has not been reported to have committed any traffic violations in relation to the crash.
This tragic accident serves as a reminder of the importance of following traffic signals and using crosswalks to ensure pedestrian safety. While the investigation is ongoing, the information available so far suggests that the accident was the result of a combination of factors, including the time of day, Pernerovsky’s location in the roadway, and his decision to cross the highway in a manner that did not adhere to traffic regulations.
Further updates on the case will be provided as the Minnesota State Patrol completes its investigation.
