James McDonald Obituary, Death – The Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was found deceased on Route 209 early Monday morning. The victim, 45-year-old James McDonald, died from internal injuries sustained in the crash, which included blunt force trauma to his head, neck, chest, and pelvis.
McDonald, who was on foot, was struck by a vehicle on Route 209 in Tamaqua around 4:35 a.m. Monday. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found McDonald lying in the roadway, already deceased.
Due to the severity of the incident, Route 209 was closed in both directions between Laurel Street and Lehigh Coal Navigation for approximately two and a half hours while officials conducted their investigation.
The police report indicates that the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident remained at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation as authorities work to determine the factors that led to the fatal collision.
