Rob Lo Presti Obituary, Death – A man who tragically lost his life in a fire at a marine engineering warehouse in Perth’s southern suburbs has been identified as Rob Lo Presti, a father of two known for his vibrant personality and “infectious smile.” Lo Presti, a marine mechanic, was killed when a fire broke out at the boat repair business in O’Connor around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The fire quickly engulfed the building, sending toxic smoke into nearby areas. Residents were advised to stay indoors and keep their doors and windows closed to avoid exposure to the smoke. Once the fire was brought under control, Lo Presti’s body was discovered inside the warehouse.

On Sunday, Lo Presti’s loved ones gathered at the site to pay tribute, laying flowers and mourning their loss as investigations by WorkSafe and the police continued. His family issued a heartfelt statement, remembering him as a genuine and joyful individual who brought happiness to others.

“Rebecca, along with our devastated family, want Rob to be remembered as the most honest, genuine, and vivacious person whose love of life was evident to everyone who knew him. His infectious smile was unlike any other,” the family said. “He leaves behind two amazing children who will carry the memory of their loving father.”

According to Shaun Gilbert from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, the fire was likely caused by a fuel leak that triggered a flash explosion, igniting a boat and spreading flames throughout the business.

“There’s been some sort of fuel leak, which caused a vapour flash and explosion, and the boat caught fire, spreading through the rest of the business,” Gilbert explained.

Authorities have confirmed that the fire is being treated as a non-suspicious fatal incident. A report will be prepared for the coroner as investigations continue into the tragic event.
