Waren Curtis Grant Obituary, Death – Police have identified the teenager accused of fatally shooting another student inside Joppatowne High School on Friday afternoon. Jaylen Rushawn Prince, 16, allegedly shot 15-year-old Waren Curtis Grant in a first-floor bathroom and fled the scene. Prince was arrested shortly after attempting to break into a nearby house. The arrest occurred at 12:52 p.m., less than 20 minutes after the shooting.
Prince is being charged as an adult with murder, first- and second-degree assault, and using a firearm in the commission of a felony or violent crime. Grant was airlifted from the school’s baseball field to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
During a press conference, Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler credited community members for aiding in the quick arrest of Prince. The sheriff’s office is still investigating the motive behind the shooting but confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the school or community, and no other suspects are believed to be involved.
