The incident took place on August 3, around 5 p.m., near an apartment building on Lenox Avenue. The woman, identified as Martha Rodriguez, was accidentally pushed to the ground by a man fleeing from another man armed with a sharp object during an argument outside the building.
Rodriguez fell and struck her head on the pavement as the man collided with her. She was immediately taken to the hospital with serious head injuries but passed away three days later. According to the NYPD, the chase began when a heated argument escalated, prompting one man to brandish a sharp object and pursue the other.
Police were notified of the incident after hospital staff alerted 911 about Rodriguez’s condition. The city’s medical examiner later ruled the case a homicide. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
