Stanley Kahana, Jennifer Huffnel Obituary, Death – On Thursday morning in Gloucester County, a tragic head-on collision claimed the lives of two drivers on Route 55. According to New Jersey State Police, a Jeep driving on the wrong side of the road struck another vehicle, killing both drivers involved.

The incident occurred just before 9 a.m. near Route 322 in Mantua Township. Authorities confirmed that Stanley Kahana, a 62-year-old from Philadelphia, and Jennifer Huffnel, 53, from Deptford, New Jersey, were the individuals who lost their lives in the crash. Kahana had been driving his Jeep Compass in the southbound lanes when, for reasons still under investigation, he crossed over into the northbound lanes and continued driving south.

Video footage of the event, shared on social media, shows the Jeep driving in the wrong direction for several seconds as other vehicles attempted to swerve out of its path. Despite efforts to avoid the Jeep, Kahana eventually collided with a Toyota Rav4, driven by Huffnel. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to overturn, and the Toyota subsequently caught fire.

In the aftermath of the crash, the northbound lanes of Route 55 were temporarily closed between Exit 48 for Ellis Street and Glassboro and Exit 53 for Woodbury-Glassboro Road. The Gloucester County Office of Emergency Management announced that all lanes were later reopened once the situation had been resolved.

Nancy McCann Foy, a driver who narrowly escaped the collision, shared her experience with CBS3. She recounted how she was able to veer off into the grassy median, narrowly avoiding the Jeep. Reflecting on the incident, she expressed her relief at having had the space to maneuver away from danger, describing the situation as “a scary moment.”

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, with authorities continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
