Brian Swank, Avon Stokes Obituary, Death – Two separate fatal accidents claimed the lives of two individuals in Fairfield County within eight hours, according to reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP). The first incident occurred on Thursday at 2:58 p.m. on State Route 188 in Hocking Township.
Avon Stokes, a 41-year-old from Lancaster, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala westbound when he encountered difficulties navigating a curve in the road. Stokes overcorrected after losing control, which led him to cross over the center line. His vehicle then veered off the left side of the road, collided with an embankment, and overturned. Tragically, Stokes died at the scene.
The second accident occurred several hours later, at 12:49 a.m. on Friday, along Lithopolis Road, near Mount Zion Road in Greenfield Township. In this case, Brian Swank, a 37-year-old also from Lancaster, was riding a 2020 Harley Davidson motorcycle heading eastbound when he, too, failed to properly negotiate a curve. Like Stokes, Swank’s vehicle left the road, hitting a ditch and an embankment before overturning. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fairfield County Coroner’s Office.
Both accidents are still under investigation by the OSHP.
