Kaylee Xiong Obituary, Death – A young woman who was struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter in Sacramento on Wednesday night has died, according to police. The incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and Cosumnes River Boulevard. The 18-year-old woman, identified by the coroner as Kaylee Xiong, was initially reported to be in critical condition. However, police confirmed early Thursday morning that she had passed away.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene, and police have stated that there is no suspicion of DUI. Sacramento Police Department’s Anthony Gamble emphasized the importance of shared responsibility among all road users, including motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, and scooter riders. He stressed that everyone needs to stay aware of their surroundings to ensure safety.
Following the accident, the road was closed through late Wednesday night. The specific circumstances leading up to the collision remain unclear.
This incident follows another tragic event last week in east Sacramento, where a UC Davis resident physician was also killed in a similar accident while riding an electric scooter.
