Nearlean C. Walker Obituary, Death – The Huntington County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the driver who died in a crash on Wednesday evening as 81-year-old Nearlean C. Walker from Kokomo, Indiana. The accident occurred around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of US 24 and County Road 750 North.
According to the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department, the incident took place when an SUV, which was stopped at the intersection of US 24 and County Road 750 North, attempted to cross the westbound lanes of US 24 to turn onto eastbound US 24. As the SUV entered the roadway, it was struck by a Ford F-250 pickup truck traveling westbound on US 24. The impact occurred near the rear tire on the driver’s side of the SUV.
Emergency responders pronounced Walker dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford F-250 was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. The cause of Walker’s death has been determined as blunt force traumatic injuries, and the manner of death has been classified as accidental.
The crash is under investigation by both the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office and the Huntington County Coroner’s Office. Authorities from these offices, along with assistance from the Roanoke Police Department, Indiana State Police, Roanoke Fire Department, Parkview Huntington Hospital EMS, Huntington County Traffic Team, and Huntington Central Dispatch, are involved in the investigation.
Both the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office and the Coroner’s Office have expressed their deepest condolences to Walker’s family and friends during this difficult time.
