Colt Gray: Law enforcement has identified the 14-year-old alleged shooter responsible for a tragic incident at Apalachee High School in Barrow County on Wednesday. The shooter, Colt Gray, was a student at the school and has been charged with murder. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), he will be tried as an adult. Gray is currently in custody and is alive.
The incident, which resulted in four deaths and nine hospitalizations, was preceded by a warning phone call early Wednesday morning, indicating that Apalachee High School would be targeted. The origin of this call remains unknown.
The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office received the first report of an active shooter at 9:30 a.m. CNN reported that there were approximately 30 injuries, with nine requiring hospitalization. Many of the injuries were minor and did not necessitate hospital treatment. Some individuals sought medical help for anxiety or panic attacks following the shooting.
Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta received one patient, while Northeast Georgia Medical Center treated two patients in Winder and one in Gainesville. Both Grady Memorial and Northeast Georgia Medical Center are Level 1 trauma centers.
