Kevin Garrison Obituary, Death – An employee from Elkhorn Public Schools tragically died on Wednesday due to an accident at a construction site in northwest Omaha. The incident occurred near Elkhorn North High School, at the intersection of North 180th Street and West Maple Road, around 10:30 a.m. A significant law enforcement presence was deployed following reports of an injured person at the location.
Douglas County deputies, along with Omaha fire rescue teams, responded to the scene and discovered the injured employee at a job site situated north of the football field. According to authorities, the employee was working on resolving an issue with a geothermal well at the high school when he became unresponsive.
The district identified the deceased individual as Kevin Garrison, the maintenance supervisor for Elkhorn Public Schools. Garrison had been a dedicated employee with the district for nearly two decades, marking the beginning of his 20th year. The district extended their deepest sympathies to Garrison’s family, including his wife Deb, who is currently a principal at EPS, and his daughters Nikki and Rachel, both of whom are also affiliated with the district.
In response to the incident, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that there was no threat or danger to other individuals at the high school. As a precautionary measure, the power to the high school was turned off, and Elkhorn North High School dismissed its students early on Wednesday.
